Casa Vicens
Casa Vicens, Gaudí's first house and first significant work, offers visitors a glimpse into one of the key pieces of Antoni Gaudí's artistic career: the work that marked his starting point, an architectural gem declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2005. Built between 1883 and 1885 for Manuel Vicens, Casa Vicens is one of the first masterpieces of Modernism, anticipating Gaudí's later work and a vivid example of the spirit of aesthetic renewal that swept through Europe at the end of the 19th century. Originally designed as a summer house with a garden, its geometric forms and rich ornamentation, inspired by the surrounding vegetation, are present both on the exterior and in its various interior spaces.
