FC Barcelona was founded in 1899 by Joan Gamper, a Swiss man, who decided to introduce football to Barcelona by creating a team. The club was officially founded on November 29, 1899. The club's first trophy was the Copa Macaya (Catalan Championship) in 1902, and in 1910 Barça won the Copa del Rey for the first time. Barça grew rapidly. Over the years, the club has won 26 La Liga titles, 31 Copa del Rey titles, 13 Spanish Super Cups, 5 league titles, and more. One of Barça's characteristics that undoubtedly contributes to the team's local popularity and widespread support is the fact that the club is one of the few in the world owned by its members. The club's history, its broader cultural symbolism, and its record-breaking performance over the years have undoubtedly earned it a place among the few great sports teams of all time. This 2024-2025 season, FC Barcelona will play at the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium, as Camp Nou is undergoing renovations.
